That Poundstone.

You remember Paula Poundstone don't you? Oh...c'mon..of course you do!

Stand-up comic for over 30 years??  HBO specials?? Emmy Award winner??  Cable ACE Award winner...2 times?? Recipient of the American Comedy Award for Best Female Stand-Up??

NOW do you remember??? I knew you would. You just needed a little Paula Poundstone refresher!

Well...Paula performed to a sold out crowd at our own Tower Theatre last night.  She was hilarious!

I had the opportunity to talk with her a week prior to her arrival in Bend. My gosh...we talked for a good hour.  It was awesome! And...let me tell ya...editing 60 minutes worth of conversation with Paula Poundstone down to a 15-20 minute interview for broadcast was no easy task!  Had to warn my listeners that the interview 'contains some mature content that may not be suitable for all listeners".

Poundstone tidbits...
  •  Bill Cosby and Lily Tomlin are her comedic inspirations. (...Paula and I share  something  in common...she has all 11 of Bill Cosby's albums...I have two)
  • She considered becoming a whore..her kids frowned upon the idea.
  • The last time she checked she had 16 cats.
  • Kitty litter is too expensive so she's going to cut back on the cat food.
  • She loves being a regular on NPR's "Wait Wait...Don't Tell Me"...
  • She still gets scrutinized over her 2001 legal debacle (she was arrested for drunk driving and child endangerment)  She still scrutinizes herself...quite frankly.
  • She's a comedienne and a mother.
  • She hates doing those 5 minute routines on TV...she sucks at them. It's too canned..too rehearsed.
  • She LOVES interacting with the audience...she feeds off the energy of her audience.
After the show Paula came out to the lobby to sign autographs, take photos and whatnot.  I couldn't wait! Not only did I have her sign a copy of her book "There's Nothing in This Book That I Meant to Say" but I also brought the album cover to Bill Cosby's Wonderfulness for her to sign as well. AND...I gave her a gift.
It was a 'thank you' gift for granting me the opportunity for an interview. (I think the gift threw her a little...I don't think she's used to random gift giving after her shows.)
Grant, Me & Paula Poundstone

What was in the 'gift bag'?  106.7 KPOV baseball hat, a box of truffles from Goodies and a box of brown sugar cinnamon pop tarts
(...her favorites).

Needless to say, my Paula experience was awesome.  She's a hardworking mother of 3, she lends her voice and personality to numerous causes and continues to make us laugh with her razor sharp wit and ironic and blindingly intelligent humor.

Listen to my interview with Paula!!!

Finally..!!!

Got Blog?

This blog has been on my 'to do' list for a very long time!  Feels so good to FINALLY make it happen!

Make it happen.  That's what I love to do.  The 'it' part of that sentence knows no bounds....and that jazzes me!

Every Wednesday from 5-6pm I make it happen on-air via my talk radio show, Open Air, on 106.7 KPOV LPFM.  My show is an eclectic mix of people, personalities, issues, celebrations...you name it we talk about it.

People fascinate me.  How people think, why they do what they do...I'm curious about everything and I get to satisfy my curiosity each and every Wednesday.

I've been hosting Open Air for about 2 years now.  I host, produce and engineer each and every show.

Please tune in! I would love your feedback and ideas!  KPOV streams live at http://www.kpov.org/

And...please tune in to my Blog!  I'll introduce you to some of my previous guests!
